Top Ten Airlines in the World [Top Ten]

Here we have the collection of World Top 10 Airlines. With countries spanning across the globe, there is a secure need for airline services, airports and international flights. Today, there are dozens of airlines across the world, which include country based airlines and network airlines. Some airline services are known for their service, while others are known for their low prices. Some of the predominant airlines in the world are Delta Airlines, Intercontinental and US Airways. There are multi-billion dollar airlines in different parts of the world that stand at the top in terms of service and protocol. Customer service is the biggest issue when it comes to airlines and their flight service. We have looked at the various airlines in the world and have selected the top 10 airlines in the world 2011.



10: Etihad Airways



Etihad Airways (Arabic: الإتحاد‎, ʼal-ʻitiħād) is the flag carrier of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Established in 2003, Etihad commenced operation on November later that year.
The airline operates more than 1000 flights per week to 70 destinations in 46 countries, via a fleet of 61 aircraft. Its operation is heavily centered in Europe and Asia, as well as Oceania, Africa and North America. Its main base is Abu Dhabi International Airport, with its head office in Khalifa City A, Abu Dhabi.
In 2010, it carried 7.1 million passengers, compared with 340,000 in its first full year of operations in 2004. Etihad was awarded the World's Leading Airline in 2009 and 2010 by the World Travel Awards. In addition to its core activity of passenger transportation, Etihad earns significant revenue from its cargo operation, Etihad Crystal Cargo.

Emirates (Arabic: طيران الإمارات‎ Ṭayarān al-Imārāt) is the flag carrier of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the largest airline in the Middle East, operating over 2,400 passenger flights per week, from its hub at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3, to 111 cities in 62 countries across six continents. The company also operates three of the world's ten longest non-stop commercial flights from Dubai to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston. Emirates is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which has over 50,000 employees, and is wholly owned by the government of Dubai directly under the Investment Corporation of Dubai.[7] Cargo activities are undertaken by the Emirates Group's Emirates SkyCargo division.

8: Air New Zealand


Air New Zealand Limited is the national airline and flag carrier of New Zealand. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, the airline operates scheduled passenger flights to 26 domestic destinations and 24 international destinations in 15 countries across Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania, and is currently the only airline to circumnavigate the world. Air New Zealand is a member of the Star Alliance global airline alliance, having joined in 1999.
Air New Zealand's route network focuses on Australasia and the South Pacific, with long-haul services to Asia, Europe and North America. The airline's main hub is Auckland Airport, located near Mangere in the southern part of the Auckland urban area. Air New Zealand is headquartered in a building called "The Hub", located 20 km (12 mi) away from Auckland Airport, in the Western Reclamation, central Auckland City.

7: Qatar Airways


Qatar Airways Company Q.C.S.C. (Arabic: القطرية, Qatariyah‎), operating as Qatar Airways, is the flag carrier of Qatar. Headquartered in the Qatar Airways Tower in Doha, it operates a hub-and-spoke network, linking over 100 international destinations from its base in Doha, using a fleet of 96 aircraft. It is one of only seven airlines awarded 5-star rating by Skytrax along with Cathay Pacific, Kingfisher Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Hainan Airlines.
Qatar Airways operates services across Africa, Central Asia, Europe, Far East, South Asia, Middle East, North America, South America and Oceania.
Qatar Airways was named by Skytrax the "Airline of the Year 2011", at the Paris Air Show in June 2011 - whilst there Qatar Airways placed an order for 6 Boeing 777 aircraft.

6: Malaysia Airlines


If you look at the logo for Malaysia Airlines, you will see that it is compromised of two distinct colours, blue and red. These two colours represent equilibrium in their books. The first official Malaysian Airlines was founded in 1947 as Malayan Airways. When the airlines service started offering its services to the public, they called it Malayan Airways. As you may have guessed, the headquarters for the airlines company is in Kuala Lumpur. Just like some of the other very established airlines services, they have a frequent flyers program along with other redeemable programs. They offer consistently good service on all their flights and have business class seating for professionals.

5: Asiana


Asiana is another airlines company to be a part of Star Alliance. They have dozens of flights that fly to over seventeen countries and fifty cities. They cover a vast area around the globe, and that is one of the reasons why many people have earned their trust. It is essentially based in Korea, but they do offer services in North America and parts of the European countries. From time to time, Asiana Airlines offers its members with great discounts and promotional offers to countries in the Asia district. This does not include the southern countries in Asia. In terms of price, they are very moderate when compared to some of the top airlines in the world.

4: Thai Airways


Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (Thai) (SET: THAI, Thai: การบินไทย) is the national flag carrier and largest airline of Thailand. Formed in 1988, the airline's headquarters are located in Chatuchak District, Bangkok, and operates out of Suvarnabhumi Airport. Thai is a founding member of the Star Alliance. Thai is a major shareholder which hold 39% shares of Nok Air—a low-cost Bangkok-based carrier. In August 2010, Thai announced to own 51% of a joint venture for a low-cost airline based in Thailand, with Tiger Airways owning the remaining 49%.

3: Qantas


Qantas Airways Limited (ASX: QAN) is the flag carrier of Australia. The name was originally "QANTAS", an acronym/initialism for "Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services". Nicknamed "The Flying Kangaroo", the airline is based in Sydney, with its main hub at Sydney Airport. It is Australia's largest airline, the oldest continuously operated airline in the world and the second oldest in the world overall. Qantas headquarters are located in the Qantas Centre in the Mascot suburb of the City of Botany Bay, Sydney, New South Wales.

2: Cathay Pacific


The airline was founded on 24 September 1946 by American Roy C. Farrell and Australian Sydney H. de Kantzow, with each man putting up HK$1 to register the airline.
Cathay Pacific is the flag carrier of Hong Kong, with its head office and main hub located at Hong Kong International Airport, although the airline's registered office is on the 33rd floor of One Pacific Place. The airline's operations include scheduled passenger and cargo services to 114 destinations in 36 countries worldwide, including codeshares and joint ventures, with a fleet of 132 wide-body aircraft, consisting of Airbus A330s and A340s, Boeing 747s and 777s. The airline also operates fifth freedom flights from Bangkok and Taipei, its major focus cities. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Dragonair, operates to 29 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region from its Hong Kong base. In 2009, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair operated 56,000 flights, carrying nearly 25 million passengers and over 1.52 million tonnes of cargo and mail.

Singapore Airlines Limited is the flag carrier of Singapore. Singapore Airlines operates a hub at Changi Airport and has a strong presence in the Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, and "Kangaroo Route" markets. The company also operates trans-Pacific flights, including the world's two longest non-stop commercial flights from Singapore to Newark and Los Angeles on the Airbus A340-500.
